Jeremiah Baarbe
BA (Hons), MA, JD  |  Student at law
I am a Juris Doctor graduate from the University of Ottawa. I have six years experience building tech to answer questions involving the law and innovation. My interests include intellectual property, technology law, and international law.
I work closely with Professor Jeremy de Beer and the Open African Innovation Research Network. Recent projects include proposing a model license for an open data commons at IASC 2017, co-authoring a paper on the 130-year history of IP Treaties in Africa, and conducting field research on Kenya's emerging tecnology sector. In 2016, I helped prepare interventions before the Supreme Court on forum selection clauses in online contracts, and on the utility standard in patent law. See my publications.
I have experience leading successful teams. In 2017, I led the University of Ottawa at the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot where we won the Fox Cup for best team and the Gordon F. Henderson Award for best factum.
My skills include oral advocacy, legal research, project management, team facilitation, business and statistical analyses, and data science. I also enjoy doing web development, graphic design, and tutoring.
